Fierce Performance - About

What’s all the fuss about?

Fierce Performance!  That’s what all the fuss is about.  Talent, determination and hard work has made Fierce Performance one of Scotland’s most innovative and exciting training grounds for the most talented young people around. That’s what we think anyway!

What’s the aim of the game?

It is our aim at Fierce Performance to take those students who show most promise and encourage them, push them and support them on their personal journeys towards excellence.

Through fast paced and advanced rehearsal periods focussing on attaining performance level show material, Fierce Performance aims to become one of Scotland’s most successful Performing Arts squads. Within this process we hope to become a leading training ground for future generations of professional performing artists.  We also aim to a have a good laugh along the way!  It’s no fun if it’s no fun!

How do you get involved?

The only way to secure a place on the Fierce Performance squad is by auditioning.
Auditions will be held roughly every six months and only the most talented and committed young people will gain a place.

What’s on offer?

Some of the best training available in Edinburgh, a true insight into the professional performing arts industry and a great time thrown in!

Fierce Performance is a team of performers working to achieve excellence in the arts by demonstrating their skill at competitions and performance opportunities throughout the year.  One team with one aim – a flawless performance.

It is a team of likeminded young people who love performing and love learning.  We encourage these students to be the best that they can be and to enjoy the hard work involved in attaining this goal.

How is Fierce Performance Cast?

The cast (team members) of Fierce Performance are chosen at auditions using a combination of professional casting distinctions.  Internal castings and auditions take place throughout the year in order to cast every number the team performs.

How much of a commitment is it?

A lot!  If you are accepted into the Fierce Performance group you must understand that rehearsals and classes should be attended each week.  Failure to do say may prevent you from participating in performance events.  Your place is yours to keep for a twelve-month period and the expectation is that you will complete the year (3 terms).  Your team depend on your hard work, dedication and commitment to the group.

There are three terms per year and each term consists of roughly 12 weeks.  Rehearsals take place on Sundays between 18:00 and 21:00. Team members will be called for a minimum of 1.5 hours per week but will usually be expected to attend the full three-hour rehearsal period each week.

Extra rehearsals may be scheduled in the run up to performance events. Fierce Performance members are encouraged to make every effort to attend all extra classes.  Technical rehearsals for shows will be scheduled in advance and if students cannot attend these specific technical rehearsals they may not be allowed to perform.

All Fierce Performance squad members have to re-audition every 12 months to hold onto their place within the squad.  Present membership does not guarantee acceptance into the squad again.

Though your place on the Fierce Team is guaranteed for a year we reserve the right to cancel your membership at any point if your attendance is not satisfactory or your behaviour is disruptive to the group. Under these circumstances no fees will be refunded.

How much will it cost?

£150.00 Per Term (Preferable 3 Term Commitment)

Fierce Performance cast members are also expected to pay a one-off-fee upon acceptance of their place for the creation of their professional expenses account.  This will be used to cover specific costume and props that students may be required to provide for shows.  If the cost of these items exceeds £65.00 during the student’s 12-month membership of the team, The MGA Company will cover the extra costs.

Travel expenses to and from competitions and/or performance events will be the responsibility of individual Fierce Performance squad members. The MGA Company will cover all application fees to competitions and performance events.

Where is all of this going on?

Rehearsals will take place on Sunday evenings. As mentioned above: should you be offered a place on the Fierce Performance squad we will expect you to attend scheduled rehearsals each week between 18:00 and 21:00.  You will be called a minimum of 1.5 hours each week.

Rehearsals take place in central Edinburgh.

Extra rehearsals may be scheduled in the run up to specific events. Students in full-time performance training can rest assured that we would always expect those commitments to come first.

Is there a Fierce Uniform?

Yes! But it is very simple!  Every team member is required to purchase a Fierce Hoodie. This is the only item of uniform that you are required to have and it should be kept in good condition and be worn to every public event that you attend with the Fierce Team.

What we need to know!

We need to know that should you be offered the chance, you are ready to give Fierce Performance your best shot!

We also need you to keep us informed of any health/medical issues that might effect your participation in Fierce Performance.  If there is anything that effects your safe participation or the safe participation of any other team member then you must inform us immediately.  The Performing Arts demands a high level of fitness and stamina from participants and should you be offered a place at Fierce, your acceptance is a declaration that you know of no reason that you are not able to participate fully and safely.
