MGA Directors Andrew Gowland and Murray Grant created a 4 day course designed to give young people a real insite into contemporary musical theatre performance focusing on enjoyment and the discipline of the professional theatre.

In addition to 4 days of demanding classes students also got the chance to mix with and learn from older students training with MGA and working professionals in a truly creative and inspiring environment.

During the 4 days of classes students had the opportunity to apply to MGA Management and selected students were invited to audition for representation.

This workshop was suitable for students 15+ yrs looking to perform as a career.

The Workshop was designed to assist students in training and new graduates wishing to gain confidence in, and an understanding of the process of auditioning. Students got four days of classes and a day at a professional audition offering participants a unique opportunity to develop and improve their audition technique in Dance, Singing and Acting.

West End Musical Director, and MGA Musical Theatre Advisor; Chris Hatt, co-created the workshop in 2005 with MGA Directors; Andrew Gowland and Murray Grant.

In addition to 4 days of demanding classes and one day auditioning for professional casting directors and leading Agents, students also got the opportunity to discuss their performance at the audition with memers of the panel creating a truly unique and valuable experience.

Andrew Gowland held an evening class on Acting for those who have 'thought about it' but never got as far as giving it a go!  The workshop was introduction to the fundamentals of acting and performance and is ideal for students of Dance or Singing who wanted to explore the skills required for Musical Theatre Performance and the spoken word. The workshop will be very
informal and is suitable for anybody of any age!

Grace who is touring with the UK production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at present arrived at the Edinburgh playhouse this December and was more than happy to hold a workshop for all in Edinburgh.

Sunday September 24th will see Sam Archer, Principle Dancer for Matthew Bourne’s Contemporary Dance Company, who is presently performing the role of Edward Scissorhands in the production of the same name, come up to Edinburgh for MGA Associates.  He will be leading a morning workshop for students aged 8 to 14 and an afternoon workshop for students aged 15+ at the Omni Centre, Edinburgh.

The workshop was suitable for students 15+ yrs who are looking to perform as a career. The workshop was held at Holmes Place Studios - Omni Centre, Edinburgh.

This workshop takes place each August and dates have already been confirmed for 2007 - Book now for a guaranteed place!

The Workshop is designed to assist students in training and new graduates wishing to gain confidence in, and an understanding of the process of auditioning. For £150 students get four days of classes and a day at a professional audition offering participants a unique opportunity to develop and improve their audition technique in Dance, Singing and Acting.

West End Musical Director, and MGA Musical Theatre Advisor; Chris Hatt, co-created the workshop in 2005 with MGA Directors; Andrew Gowland and Murray Grant. All three returned in 2006 following the workshops success last year.

The auditions were for three different contracts:

MGA Associates to submited seleted members for consideration - several were offered contracts.

Musical Staging Workshop

Ashley Hale who recently completed a national tour of Starlight Express and is now in the West End production of Guys and Dolls, held a Musical Staging Workshop with MGA.  Ashley taught, and put together the 3 disciplines of Dancing, Singing and Acting, creating a piece of performance standard work by the end of the day. This was an intensive day of performance, fun and exercise, then finally, all three at once for an invited audience.

4 Day Audition Technique Workshop
Vienna, Austria

Ramesh Nair and Murray Grant are holding a 4 day workshop exploring audition technique. The workshop is designed to assist students-in-training and graduates wishing to gain confidence at auditions. The workshop will conclude on the 4th day with an audition followed by feedback from the panel.

Andrew is a graduate of the Birmingham School of Acting and student of the Royal Academy of Music, will be holding a weekend workshop based on text analysis and preparation with focus on monologue presentation and the technique of the actor.

The Workshop is designed to offer participants the unique opportunity to develop their audition technique in Dance, Singing and Acting. The course will include a brief photo shoot with AJG Photography so each participant will leave with a photograph suitable for use within the performing profession. Each participant will also have a CV created and the chance to audition on the 5th day for Newton Wills Management - a leading West End Agent and also London based Casting Director- Katie Jordan, plus receive feed back from the panel on their performance.

West End Musical Director Chris Hatt will be our musical advisor and pianist for the duration of the workshop. Chris trained at Surrey University and the London International Film School. His theatre work as Musical Director includes over 30 rep musicals for Bruce James Productions, 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' (UK tour and West End), 'Our House' (West End and future UK tour), 'Footloose' (UK tour and future West End), and 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (UK tour). He is also Musical Supervisor of First Family Entertainment, a new pantomime company set up by Clear Channel UK and the Ambassadors Theatre Group. He has also written a number of musicals, including 2 children's shows, currently touring the UK.

Andrew Gowland of Murray Grant Associates, in collaboration with the Actors Outlet, recently held three workshops investigating 'Audition Technique', 'Monologue preparation and presentation' and 'Acting through Song'. The three workshops ran from 3rd August 2005 to the 5th August 2005.
